President and CEO, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation

Rodney A. Phillips (BA ’88 - PoliSci/English) became the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation president and chief executive officer on June 10/2011.

Most recently, he was president and chief executive officer of Shepell.fgi, one of North America’s leading providers of health and productivity solutions for employers and organizations.

Prior to joining Shepell.fgi, Phillips was chief of staff to Mayor Mel Lastman during his first term as the leader of the newly amalgamated City of Toronto from 1997-2000. He was previously head of the Goodmans Venture Group and was a principle with KPMG Consulting. He also served as the senior advisor to the Honourable Elizabeth Witmer, Ontario’s Minister of Labour. Phillips is also a past recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award, and was selected as one of the ‘Best of the Best’ on the 10th Anniversary of that prestigious program in 2005. Along with his investment partners, he won the 2009 Canadian Venture Capital Association Deal of the Year award in the Private Equity category. He is currently the Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of 32 Combat Engineer Regiment based in Toronto and a member of the Board of the Toronto International Film Festival.

As an active community member, Phillips has volunteered with several charitable initiatives. His experience includes acting as Founding Chair of Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health’s Transforming Lives gala, serving as past president of the Canadian Club of Toronto, and sitting on several boards with major non- profit organizations in Toronto.
